Know where the data goes

Before using a tool with business information, read how the provider stores and uses what you send, whether it is used to train models and where it is processed.

Set simple staff rules

Write them down and share them.

  • Never paste customer personal details into tools you have not approved
  • Remove names and identity numbers where you can
  • Use business accounts, not personal ones
  • Check output before it goes to a customer

Tell your customers

If AI handles their information, say so in your privacy notice and describe what happens. POPIA expects you to be open about how personal information is used.
