Most office Wi-Fi problems are about where the signal comes from, not how fast the internet is. Fixing placement solves more than buying a faster plan.
Start with placement
Move the router to a central, high place in the open, away from metal cupboards, microwaves and thick walls. One move often fixes the worst room.
Add access points properly
For anything larger than a small office, add more access points rather than extenders.
- Connect each access point to the network by cable
- Use the same network name on all of them
- Space them so coverage overlaps a little
- Place them on ceilings, not in cupboards
Check and tune
Walk the office with a phone and a free Wi-Fi scanner to find dead spots. Separate guest Wi-Fi from your work network.
